This is an interesting book that opens my eyes. While I exercise regularly, I have never been to those life-or-death wilderness. That said, this book really helps me to prepare for the worst.

    A few takeaways:
    - Emotion comes first before the feeling. We do not run because we're afraid of bears. We're afraid of the bears because we run
    - Rule-followers don't do well as those who are independent mind and spirit. Think about what would happen when a doctor tells you have only 6 months to live? Follow? Rebel?
    - Be open minded. It is impossible to add anything more to a cup that is already full. Have a good balance between boldness and humility
    - Build a pattern in a life threatening situation. Chanting, singing, dancing, marching are good examples
    - STOP (stop, think, observe and plan) - it is important to have a plan and a backup plan too. But you must hold onto the plan with a gentle grip and be willing to let it go
    - Be humble. Understand the danger of success
    - Celebrate your success from even the smallest one. This is an important step in creating an ongoing feeling of motivation
    - When in doubt, bail out! It is better to be on the ground wishing I were in the air rather than in the air wishing I were on the ground
