A lengthy, masterly, complex account of the life of a Hindu born Trinidadian. It starts with his birth and ends with his death. He lives with his relations - and it seems at times that they number in the hundreds - throughout his life. He longs for a house of his own. But is never able to earn enough to buy or even rent one. He longs to be free from the dominating influence of his mother-in-law. Again and again he leaves, but has to come back as he has no resources of his own. Read on!
A wonderful book of endurance and hope.
