Far from being comparable with Agatha Christie’s books, this is nevertheless a good detective story full of humor, and, after all, funny under many points of view. What about a middle-aged, just retired businesswoman, who, although totally unable of cooking, not only takes part in a cooking contest, but is also strongly determined to win it? You might think that she ends up even poisoning someone, and when that actually happens the real plot begins.
Agatha Raisin, the bad cook, must soon realise that living in a small country village is quite a less idyllic affair than she ever imagined, but the chance of playing the role of a detective will give her at least a non-ordinary non-boring life.
I have certainly to concede that some circumstances are perhaps a little bit unlikely, but the whole story is not far from the real world. Just try to live in the countryside, and you will see!...Continua
Mi ha fatto sorridere questo libro perche' la protagonista e' un'atipica pensionata che si trova a fare la detective-ficcanaso (alla Miss Marple) ma con la sigaretta tra le dita e un bicchiere di gin in mano
