This is very good as a work of fiction. Val McDermid always writes very well and she got me involved in the story from the moment Tony Hill was injured. although I Did enjoy it it did not engage me as much as the other Tony hill and carol Jordan books the essence of the relationship between them seems to have altered and the rapport seemed to have changed. Carol seems to be well on her way to alcoholism which is very different that the other books and tony seems a bit lost trying to solve a crime from a hospital bed. i thought it would be more suspenseful.
