A traditional ghost story, but in an unconventional setting. The ghost is straight out of a Japanese horror movie. The story flows and has occasionally chilling moments but is overall a bit too polite to be properly scary.
The story of a man and a dog, left alone in the Arctic night with a malevolent and vengeful spirit. Jack, the lonely narrator, gives us wonderfully evocative descriptions of the far north in winter and touching hints of his unrequited love. A slow burning plot that builds to a terrifying climax.
