“Dead Lions” by Mick Herron
This book is the second in a series about a collection of ex-MI5 agents,
who have somehow managed to make cock up's on past missions etc.
The agents, a.k.a."Slow Horses", have been all reassigned to an out of the way location, where they can do the least amount of damage!
The central story revolves around an ex-MI5 character known as Jackson Lamb, who heads up the MI5 site, known as Slough House.
An ex-spy is found dead on a bus in Oxford, and our own James Bond starts to investigate the cause of the agent's death.
This leads to a real whirlwind of a plot involving the Cold War, and our Russian friends.
The story flows really well, and the characters are very credible, with some great line's of British sarcasm.
This book show's more of the real MI5, which is a long way away from the modern film image of James Bond 007.
It all makes for a cracking read, with lots of plots and loops, on the way to the conclusion.
I can't wait for another story to be developed!...Continua
