This story is loosely based on the life experiences of the author's own grandmother and is a compelling coming of age story.
I loved this novel. I actually listened to it, but I own a signed copy. I thought the narrator, Trini Alvarado, was wonderful. I had the opportunity to see the author speak at WEMA.
