"Flow" was the first psychology book I have ever read and I will certainly read some more now that I have finished it. I must admit that, for someone like me who is used to reading novels all the time, it can be very time consuming and tiring to read an essay on psychology, but it is definitely worth it.
This book will give you a new perspective on how you face the things you have to do, from chores and homework to your favourite hobby, from working or studying to watching TV. Mich have been said after the concept of "flow" was introduced in this book. As such, I have already read my books which make reference to this book. Probably because of this, I have learnt a snippet here and there. So when I read this classic I feel it a bit familiar.

The theme of this book argue that we can be fully autotelic to find a satisfaction which will lift us above the sea of random events we cannot control. We are social animals, after all. I would doubt if we can really live against the expectation of social values or poverty to follow the inner call on its own terms. This is an ambitious thesis that the book author cannot finish proving. But I appreciate the beauty of the thesis and the piecemeal anecdotes all over the book....Continua
Excellent abridged audiobook. I loved seeing the breakdown of flow activities and I understand more fully why I love the things I love to do and why I hate the things I hate to do.
Will be a valuable tool to structured thinking in determining what I'd like to do in the future....Continua
Flow experience is experienced when:
- a challenging activity that requires skills
- the merging of action and awareness
- clear goals and feedback
- the paradox of control
- the loss of self-consciousness (having a sense of control, or lack the ense of worry about losing control hat is typical in many situations of normal life)
- the transformation of time
