... Parte come un Roth energico e frizzante, ma poi si spegne. Il romanzo mi sembra sospeso, il finale troppo "aperto". E' freddo. Poi i racconti, tutti piuttosto sottotono tranne uno, ironico.
un romanzo breve e 4 racconti, alcuni molto spassosi ("la conversione degli ebrei" e "difensore della fede"); in comune mi è sembrato abbiano la sofferenza dell'essere diversi: per censo, età, responsabilità, religiosità, anticonformismo.
