I really enjoyed this collection, at first it was a little odd, flying ships, robots, superheros and the early 80s LA punk scene, but after I got used to that they blended beautifully and I really loved them! I've been wanting to read Love and rockets for about 25 years since i first saw it advertised in the back of the comics I used to read, but somehow always failed to get around to it. But I'm really glad I finally did. I
love the characterisation in these comics, best I've seen in ages. Maggie with all her insecurities is a lot of fun, her tall tales, her clumsiness, her self depreciation. And I LOVE the fact that her weight fluctuates! I can't think of a single comic (or really anything) I've read where that's happened before! And they change their hairstyles and dye their hair! Of course I think my love of the series is definitely helped by the fact that Hopey is the CUTEST girl in a comic EVAR!!! I love her doomed love and her past anger. I like Izzy's total mental weiredness. Penny's obsession with becoming a super hero. And of course the retired wrestler whose had all the adventures in the world.
The fact that they are ordinary, or maybe a better word is realistic, people hanging out and having comic book adventures is awesome. I'm really looking forward to reading the rest....Continua
