A GREAT new series. I can't wait for the next one, coming soon. Sci-Fi meets the age of sail, in the David Weber way.
David Weber has started what I am sure will be a magnificant series. It takes place in a future where the human race is defeated by an ancient space faring race that looks for high technology signatures and destroys those races. A small colony is set up and manipulated by its leaders into a low technology existence in order to escape its foe.
Themes include technology as magic, heroism, religion, and immortality. Other large themes are touched upon. The protagonists are heroic but human.
I loved it....Continua
Review (cut down as this website has synopsis): Well-written book. Quite interesting. As normal for a Weber book, it is wordy and has a lot of conversations and maybe filler. If you like Weber's books, you'll like this one (as long as you aren't looking for space battles).
