Welcome to the wacky world of screenplay writing. Ambitious and epic, but The Diviners loses focus seconds from the starting line as it gets weighed down by its own cast of vain, greedy opportunists. Oh, and it's got the most pretentious opening chapter that I've read in recent memory. I don't need to read about ruminations on the light that springs forth from Los Angeles casting its rays on every damn city in the world - it's a tired and pointless metaphor that seems like a throwaway from a creative writing class. If I wanted a visual representation of something like that, I'd just watch the opening credits on any Universal Pictures movie.
