I must say the book disappointed me and that I really fail to see where it's quality might lie. There are, yes, some good moments in the book, but they hardly justify the immense following of the book. I know it's a "science fiction nonsense" type of book and all that. But I didn't find it entertaining, much less funny or witty.
I disliked the links to the Encyclopaedia Galactica (an Asimov satirization, of course) for it's lack of originality.
To sum it up, this book has some novelty material and some (scarcely) good material.
Shame that the novelty material isn't good, and that the good ('goodish', I'd say) material isn't novel...
We can survive without this book, save the trees, save the planet!
TRADUZIONE
Totalmente sottotono!
Someone understands English humor, someone does not really. Well and someone is surprised, and that in this humor of English. No stiffness and abstruse refined bites, I did not see the book when reading the book. But the merry, playful satire on the world of modern bureaucracy is described in full. Although ... in addition to satire, there is quite a lot of ordinary and slightly absurd humor, which, if not a laugh, provokes a smile.
Well, how else can you treat the fact that the most intelligent beings on our planet are mice. Moreover, they are fans of putting various experiments on people, pretending to be "reasonable" that these people put experiments on them. You can get confused. Or, as you thought, after many years of meditation, with the help of a super computer, the answer to the most important question of "Life, Genesis and Generally" was finally received. To whom is interested, then generations of philosophers were looking for an answer ... Pam! Pam! Pam! (significant pause) "42" !!! Yes, yes. The answer to the most important question is 42.
Here such here humor. There is something to ponder or laugh at. Personally, I really liked it. I recommend.
