Amore, sesso, romanticismo, famiglia, bugie, perdono ... E Happy end. Non manca nulla in questo iarc evolve romanzino da ombrellone
The novel did attract me to hang on to it until I finished the last page. There are quite a bit of clichés and the readers kind of know that the protagonists, Alexa and Nick, will be together at the end of the novel. But still I have to admit that we like Alexa and Nick, and also the lovely mutt Old Yeller.
It's the premise that Alexa marrying Nick (her best friend's brother and also her childhool friend and the boy who had her first kiss) in order to save her family's home is the most appealing reason that leads me to read this book. But with that, nothing has been surprising any more. There is considerable amount of sexual tensions and scenes in the book. Even though we understand that it's because Alexa loves Nick, Alexa seems a perfect dream girl for men as she somehow seemed to react positively to whatever sexual manoeuvre Nick initiated. I've sort of found it too easy (for Nick) ! The novel unavoidably gives me the feeling that they have loved each other because their "sex" has been great. To truly keep one's celibacy, one probably should avoid sleeping around as this might very likely to someone/something that threatens one's celibacy.
The only negative character is probably Nick's father, Jed Ryan. Everybody and everything else (except the relationship between Nick and Jed) seems nice. I'm not sure what other ending can a reader expect.
Throughout the novel, we see things mainly in the eyes of Alexa and Nick. The epilogue was completely what Maggie (Alexa's best friend and Nick's sister) was thinking and seeing. It seems that it paves the road for the author's next novel in this "Billionaire series", "The Marriage Trap". Here, we see that Maggie didn't like and trust the Italian Michael Conte at all....Continua
