The plot centres around a genetic researcher who is doing a study on criminal behaviour, using twins as her core group. She comes across a series of identical twins who have been reared apart, ideal for research. As she goes along, she discovers that not only they have been reared apart, they were born of different mothers! During this process, she comes under the scrutiny of some very powerful men and runs afoul of their political plans. The book is fast-paced, easy to digest, and entertaining. A good story, it kept me interested all through.. a good reading.

Está bien, aunque el final me esperaba algo más desarrollado. Final rápido y previsible.
"The third twin" is the first novel I read by Ken Follet and I found it an exciting thriller and moreover you are introduced to important themes such as the biogenetic.
In addition to this, the description of the environment and of the characters is very accurate and the plot is fluent and rich of suspense.
Jean Ferrami is a scientist at Jones Falls University, in the psychology department. In the course of her work she comes across a group of people who seem to be identical twins but aren't related. She investigated, but she is attempted to be fired to prevent her finding out the truth.
She thinks that independence has to be balanced against other obligations, obviously, such as the need to respect the civil rights of individuals. However, a vigorous defense of

Will the university be cowed by the intellectually shallow assault of a daily newspaper? Will a program of scientific research be canceled for the sake of a commercial takeover bid? She hopes not.
Despite that, she discovered the clones were the result of a military experiment
conducted by Genetico.
The Aventine Clinic was founded in 1972 by Genefico Inc., as a pioneering center for research and development of human in vitro fertilization -the creation of what the
newspapers call "test-tube babies. "-
Identical twins could be conceived in the laboratory and then implanted in the wombs of different women.
There was a rumor, back in the seventies, that went all around the military. The Russians had a breeding program, people said. They were
making perfect soldiers, perfect athletes, perfect chess players, everything.
Some people said we should be doing the same. Others said we already were."
She suspects that her own project is probably part of their grand scheme."
A breed of perfect Americans: intelligent, aggressive, and blond. A master race. It's an old idea, but it's possible now, with modem genetics.
Human variation has a purpose. There's a reason we're born different from both our parents. Evolution is a trial-and error business. You can't prevent nature's failed
experiments without eliminating the successes too.
