Just the most fascinating book I have read in a long time!

What else can I say? - The intricate, surprising plot, the Haiku-style little events on the fringes, the brilliant workmanship in handling the language... I wish there were more books like this one!

Very good journey into the colonial days of Holland in Japan

I enjoyed it a lot. A bit difficult to start but very rewarding. Will make a very good movie too...
