A great book from Henry James, but I really don't like the end it is a quite sad end and I prefer happy and lovely ends.
It seems that this novel is based on a true story: a dull simple minded good heiress falls in love with a mercenary handsome man and her is father threatens to disinherit her if she does not give her lover up.
She does not but her lover is more interested in the money than in her of course. After the father's death he comes back but she has gotten over her love.
The prose is concise and fluent and all the novel is UTTERLY BORING!!!!
My first english book (it is an adaptation, however). It is a tipical, sad, family novel.
A poor, young man wants to marry a rich girl, but her father doesn't want it, in fact he thinks that the boy wants only the fortune of the girl, and he doesn't love her.
