This book was a little dark for my taste. Joey Becker, our female protagonist, has chosen flight over fight any time things get difficult. Her intimacy issues are sometimes glamorized by others to call her "elusive," when she is actually just downright limited in her ability to form & sustain relationships. Even so, she isn't a despicable character. She's not a sociopath, but that doesn't mean someone ELSE in this story isn't! Not a pretty, neat ending, but real life rarely has those....Continua
I tried reading this all day off and on today. I am on Chapter 7, and it just never picked up. While I very seldom abandon a book, I'm just going to have to put this one down. I don't like the main character either. She seems exceedingly selfish. I wouldn't recommend this one at all.
Edit* I went back and finished reading it. I always feel guilty to abandon a book and it was bothering me. Upon finishing it, it got a little better, but not much. I still found the main character self centered and irritating....Continua
