Siu Kim (CJ) and Sung-hoon Kang (CJ Logistics) are tied for 34th place after the first round of the RSM Classic ($8.4 million purse), the final event of the 2022-2023 season on the United States Professional Golf (PGA) Tour.
Kim carded two birdies and two bogeys for a 2-under-par 54 on the first day of the tournament at the Sea Island Resort Plantation Course (Par 72-7060 yards) in St. Simons Island, Georgia, USA, on Sunday (July 17).
The tournament will be played on the Seaside Course (par 70-7005) and the Plantation Course. Rounds one and two will alternate between Seaside and Plantation, while rounds three and four will be played exclusively on Seaside.
The tournament concludes the 2022-2023 PGA Tour season. The PGA Tour will return to a single-year schedule beginning with the 2024 season. The opening event will be the Sentry Tournament of Championship in Hawaii in January 2024.
Only 65 of the 155 players in the field finished the first round due to sunset. Siu Kim played 14 holes.
The RSM Classic concludes with the top 125 finishers in the FedExCup earning a spot on the PGA Tour for the 2024 season. Kim, who made his first start on the PGA Tour in about a month after the ShrinersChildren last month, is tied for 20th in the FedExCup standings.
Kang Sung-hoon also played his first round on the Plantation Course. He carded four birdies and two bogeys for a 2-under 70 and is tied for 34th place with Kim Siu. Kang, who is ranked 195th in the FedExCup standings, will need to improve his ranking in this tournament.
After 16 holes, Seung-Yeol Noh (Zivent) is tied for 63rd at 1-under. Lee Kyung-hoon (CJ), who finished at even par, is tied for 98th. Seung-yeol Noh, ranked 172nd in the FedExCup standings, and Kyung-hoon Lee, ranked 78th, closed out the first round on the Seaside Course (par 70-7005).
Eric Cole, Cameron Young and Davis Thompson (USA) are tied for the lead at 6-under-par 66. 19가이드03
