Cat Ellington

Cat Ellington is one of the most distinctive women in the creative arts, with works spanning three industries. Undoubtedly notable for her prolific contributions to music, movies, and literature, this American songwriter/composer, casting director, author, poet, voice actress, and entrepreneur is the founder of three companies through which she distributes her musical, visual, and literary works, including The Black Jaguar Music Company, The Centaur Casting Agency, and Quill Pen Ink Publishing.

It was in 1993 that Ellington began her work in feature films. That same year, she was commissioned by Vital Vision Productions to work alongside filmmaker Joseph Strickland on his debut feature Dual Mania, taking on the casting duties for the project as well as the role of production assistant. In 1996, not long after finally completing the casting process on the psychological thriller, Cat Ellington founded The Centaur Casting Agency, through which she still holds office as an executive casting director today, presently working on Strickland's second feature film.

Music is the primary profession of Ellington, who wrote her first song in 1981 and has since composed hundreds of works for her massive song catalog covering 24 genres, ranging from R&B, rock, gospel, and jazz to heavy metal, classical, country, blues, pop, and folk. Through The Black Jaguar Music Company, she made her songwriting debut in 2020 with the release of Dual Mania (The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), an album for which she wrote five original songs, namely "The Book of Us," "I'm Still in Love," "Something in Your Eyes," "Gett Out" (a heavy metal track she co-wrote with Joseph Strickland) and "I Do," which won the 2019 Vegas Movie Awards award for Best Song. In 2021, Vital Vision Records, Cat Ellington's assigned label, released her debut album as an artist, Instrumentals: Music from the Motion Picture Dual Mania, an EP of her five original works instrumentalized.

In 2018, Quill Pen Ink Publishing established its first book series authored by Cat Ellington, the famous Reviews by Cat Ellington series. The succession would spawn nine books before spinning off The Unique Critique Trilogies series and The Complete Works, a conclusive encyclopedia of the nine-book series. The copious bibliography of Cat Ellington also includes More Imaginative Than Ordinary Speech, Memoirs in Gogyohka, The Five-Star Review, Strike a Prose, and You Can Quote Me On That. Ellington is preparing to release The Arts, her newest series, through Quill Pen Ink Publishing. Incidentally, the first five-song volume of The Cat Ellington Sheet Music Collection, though published by Vital Vision Film Music, was also compiled and composed by Ellington with co-authors Joseph Strickland, Princeton Brown, and Greg Schutte.

Cat Ellington has been married to filmmaker Joseph Strickland since 1994. The couple and their three children split their time between dual residences in their native Chicago and Maplewood, Minnesota.
