I'm not sure how I became so immersed in WWII this summer! Pure chance. I liked both Sarah's Key (which had me in tears more than once) and Suite Francais. The latter had so much publicity and I felt was slightly overrated. It is definitely worth the read. The edition I read has appendices at the end that were as interesting as the story. If you haven't read Skeletons at the Feast be sure to put it on your list. The best of all the WWII fiction I've read this summer. An interesting note, I'm on a book award committee and was just sent a memoir of a Holocaust survivor. Just can't seem to get away from it this summer.
I picked up Whistling in the Dark after reading your review. Your reviews are so well done. I think we probably have a lot in common, both 52 years old, married and librarians. Thanks for sharing your reading.
You have been reading! I have 2 more days of gifted camp and then I can read. Where to start? I just hit the local junk store and scored 10 great books for $5. Wow!
Thanks for your comments on my review! I felt a little bad making fun of a book that so many people seem to enjoy but as long as some one got a laugh out of it, then I don't mind so much :)
