C$285,000, not all 1,200 guests at the event used paid tickets to enter the venue

All this happened while Groal struggled with problem gambling and generated millions of Canadian dollars worth of debt.

Last week, a topic went viral and drew more attention to an event that took place nearly a year ago in Brampton. April 6, 2018 was a special day for many, as Mr. Groal saw an event with a special guest that turned the Chandni banquet hall into a hot place. According to the information, all attendance tickets cost about C$500 and previously issued information showed that the event reportedly brought in 1,200 people, a record amount for this kind of event.

Lack of transparency fuels speculation
By that point, the total number of individuals had rarely exceeded 100 attending a given event, and this sudden surge of interest sparked public concern. He is believed to have been in the midst of gambling addiction at the time, and no further details have been given as to what the accumulated cash was used for. In the wake of recent speculations, he quickly attempted to fire them with a tweet.

He claimed that the event in question was to be seen during the dinner with C$285,000 raised by the Brampton East Liberal Riding Association. Once everything around it was paid, the association remained with about $250,000 to operate. Mr. Groal also confirmed that the number of people attending the event was actually 1,200, but not everyone pays for the ticket, as it often happens at these kinds of fundraisers.

Brampton liberals were invited to a special event to explain their greater interest in it. It should also be taken into account that the spending limit for the Brampton East election campaign has reached C$220,000 since 2015, meaning that elections in the coming year are expected to raise that standard even higher.

About 570 people paid for their attendance
If this is actually the amount incurred at the event, this means that only about 570 people paid for the tickets. If all 1,200 people had paid, the total amount would have reached C$600,000. Mr Growal said the fundraiser was eventually successful with impressive attendance, as the only similar event he organized was held in 2014.

But previously published information shows that events featuring Prime Minister Justin Trudeau do not reach these impressive levels of interest. Democrat Nathan Cullen is well aware of the situation surrounding Mr. Growal's name and the previously controversial situation, and he was one of the first to express his position on the subject.

He said it was unusual for a fundraiser to allow guests to sit at no cost. Member for NDP even went so far as to tell him that all this explanation seems like a made-up story.
